Pirates: Henry Morgan - Dollar Coin - #2 in Series.

This 2011 $1 coin portrays Sir Henry Morgan (Ca. 1635 -1688) was amongst the most successful and most pitiless pirates who ever sailed the Spanish Main. Morgan was infamous for his habit of torturing hapless captives to obtain tactical information.

The coin’s reverse depicts Henry Morgan against the backdrop of a pirate ship. The design includes a coloured representation of a pirate chest, two barrels (hogsheads) and a bottle of rum, and also incorporates the Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.

Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu.
