Tuvalu: 2013 - Deadly and Dangerous - Yellow-Bellied Sea Snake - 1oz Silver Proof.
Living up to its deadly and dangerous reputation, this boldly striped yellow and black snake has venom that is more toxic than that of a cobra. The most widely distributed sea snake species, it can be found in warm waters of the Pacific and Indian oceans where it feeds mostly on fish.
The coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.
The coin’s reverse depicts a Yellow-Bellied Sea Snake in colour with a coral reef, star fish and other marine life in the background. The inscription AUSTRALIA’S YELLOW-BELLIED SEA SNAKE also appears in the design.
Issued as legal tender of Tuvalu, the coin depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and the monetary denomination.
No more than 5,000 of these coins were released.
The coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
The coin is housed in a high-gloss timber presentation case and shipper emblazoned with the warning ‘DANGER’.
